Forestry for the Birds Course

Purdue Extension – Forestry and Natural Resources and the Central Hardwoods Joint Venture are excited to announce the release of our new online course: Forestry for the Birds in the Central Hardwoods! Join us for a self-paced, fully interactive online learning module that will teach you how to intentionally manage forests with birds in mind.

This course is designed for professional foresters, conservation professionals, or others who are interested in managing woodlands and forest properties for wildlife habitat benefits.

The course features a mix of interactive learning modules, recorded lectures, and opportunities to apply learning in virtual scenarios. Topics covered include: history of Forestry for the Birds initiatives, Central Hardwoods forest ecology, ecology and management of birds in the Central Hardwoods, intentional management of bird-friendly forests, and communication strategies with landowners.
